ISRS also has a status of an ordinary membership (Category 8) of the International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS). ISRS has been active in supporting ISPRS in its objectives of promoting international co-operation, co-ordination and advancement of Geospatial technology and related sciences to improve quality of mankind by sustainable natural resources development and environmental management. We have hosted five Technical Commissions (TC) and many working groups during last 25 years. We have successfully organised Mid-term symposiums and workshops.
Following are the highlights of ISRS contributions to ISPRS:
ISRS also has a status of an ordinary membership of the Asian Conference of Remote Sensing (ACRS). India has successfully conducted ACRS in the Year 1985, 1994 and 2017.
The 6th Asian Remote Sensing Conference was held at Hyderabad in November 21- 26, 1985. It was organised by National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA), under the auspices of Department of Space, Government of India, in the association with the Asian Conference of Remote Sensing (AARS) and Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS).
The 15th Asian remote sensing conference was held at Bangalore in November 17-23, 1994. It was organised by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in an association with Asian Conference of Remote Sensing.
The 38th ACRS was successfully organised during October 23-27, 2017 at New Delhi. The theme of the conference was Space Applications: Touching Human Lives. It was jointly organised by Asian Association on Remote Sensing (AARS), Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS) and Indian Society of Geomatics (ISG) and Co-hosted by ISRO.
