Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS) is a society of more than 4000 professionals working in the field of remote sensing technology and applications. The Society conducts various programmes (conferences, workshops, exhibitions, etc.) for the popularization of Space Technology and Remote Sensing. Every year, ISRS celebrates, the Birth Anniversary (12th August) of the pioneering space scientist Dr Vikram Sarabhai (popularly known as Father of Indian Space Programme), as the National Remote Sensing Day. This year ISRS is planning to do workshops in rural areas on popularization of Remote Sensing & GIS.

In the year 2019, on August 14, ISRS Delhi Chapter along with Mahalanobis National Crop Forecast Centre (MNCFC) conducted a half day workshop in DAV Inter College Kishanpur Baral village, District Bagpat U.P. and apprise the villagers the benefits of satellite Remote Sensing.

Around One hundred twenty farmers and seventy Students of DAV Inter College attended the half day workshop on 14.8.2019. During the workshop Basics of Remote Sensing and Use of Remote Sensing for Agriculture have been discussed in a very simple way and language to farmers and students.
The workshop held under the Chairmanship of Dr. S. S Ray, Chairman ISRS Delhi Chapter and Director MNCFC, along with Shri. Surya Pratap Singh, District Agriculture Officer Bagpat (U.P.), Shri. Devi Prasad Gupta, Principal DAV Inter College Kishanpur Baral, Shri Satendra Kumar Tomar, Manager DAV Inter College Kishanpur Baral, Shri. Yatendra Singh Vice Chairman DAV Intern College, Shri. Overall Coordination of the workshop was conducted by Ms. Neetu Scientist SE MNCFC. During the workshop Dr. S. S. Ray give a presentation and briefly discussed about the new and latest technology of Remote Sensing which can be used for crop insurance, drought assessment, crop monitoring, irrigation management. Shri. Surya Pratap Singh, District Agriculture Officer Bagpat (U.P.) gave a brief overview of the crops grown in the Bagpat district. In the workshop a short video of Remote Sensing Khushali Ki Technology also shown to the famers in which questions and answer were also taken. During the workshop the Farmers and Students actively participated in the discussion of usefulness of Remote Sensing in Agriculture.
